I'm an artist living and working in Brighton.
I use a number of sources as starting points for my work which mainly include; personal photography, Film stills, culture editorial such as the face and id, and found objects (which are subverted in my paintings), digital prints/imagery; (which are scanned into the computer again digitized and then printed).
Rene Magrette preferred to be called a thinker who communicated by painting rather than an artist. Although- in terms of identifying myself- I would not go as far as Magrette, I like to take a similar approach to my work bringing to it my interests in philosophy. I also bring the concept of collage, using various elements to signify, and create a dialogue in relation to subjects I deal with.
I like to take a lateral approach to my work. To find new ways in which a piece of work is read, particularly through re-occurring ideas and visual language. I aim to draw the viewer in and gain different perspectives on a piece of work. The use of disparate elements, which may relate, create tension or dialogue with each other is something that interests me.
